Solarium’s Artist

Solarium Art Studio is the personal project of multi-media artist Jonah Pedersen. What started as a hand-painted, press-on nail art project in 2020 evolved into an upcycled art business by 2024. Jonah branched out to oil painting in 2025 and has spent many delightful hours painting quirky tubers since.

Why “Solarium”?

Solarium Art Studio was born when Jonah moved to a sunny room in Oakland, California and decided to step back from lawyering and take a creative leap.

This new space had happy plants and natural light. Just like a sunroom.

A solarium, or sunroom, lets light in but keeps wind and rain out. Plants need a safe place to grow, and so does creativity.

Why Nail Art?

Nail art was Jonah’s weekly ritual during law school. Student loans made getting manicures impractical, so they taught themself.

Painting nails helped Jonah through a battle with depression, the decision to leave full-time lawyering, and the process of coming out as non-binary.

Nail art can be silly and whimsical. It can also be an anchor in a storm.
